15 shots – walzen – everybodys kreistanz
Over the years specifically in 2012, 2014, and 2021 I have engaged with the Dresden dance scene through three video projects; during this same period, the scene evolved into a key cultural-political player in the city.
This process resulted in three works that are very dear to me:
In „15 Shots“, I encountered the dancers individually with my camera (accompanied, of course, by the sound design of Nikolaus Woernle); next, we explored duets in „Walzen“ (Rollers) this time with the camera mounted on a rolling tripod, as I was pregnant. Finally, in „Everybodys Kreistanz“ (Everybody’s Circle Dance), we tested the choreographic potential of social distancing rules during the pandemic.

The setting and concept for the experiment were simple: one hour in a room to develop a one-minute, continuous-shot (one-shot) dance and camera choreography. Fifteen movement solos emerged from this dialogue with the lens. The sound is not merely commentary but an integral part of the movement… so turn up the volume!

Walzen is also based on improvised dialogues with the camera, but features pairs of dancers whose interactions combine to form an improvised, collective choreography within the space. EVERYBODY’S
EVERYBODY´S KREISTANZ (2021)
The underlying concept of „Everybody’s Circle Dance“ (2021) was an outdoor group choreography—one direction, one rhythm, one basic step. Distance, unity, and the emptiness in between were negotiated within the framework of COVID-19 social distancing regulations. Like the previous ones, this film is a collaboration with sound artist Nikolaus Woernle.

Durch drei Videoarbeiten bin ich mit großen Abständen mit der Dresdner Tanzszene in Kontakt gekommen (2012-2014-2021), eine Szene die sich, genau in der Zeit zu einem wichtigen kulturpolitischen Akteur der Stadt entwickelt hat.
Daraus sind drei Arbeiten entstanden, die ich sehr liebe:
15 shots bin ich die Tänzerinnen mit der Kamera Solo begegnet (begleitet natürlich von dem Sound von Nikolaus Woernle), dann erforschten wie Duetten in „Walzen“. Diesmal war die Kamera auf einem Rollenstativ, denn ich war schwanger. Schlißesslich erprobten wir „Everybodys Kreistanz“ das choreographische Potential der Abstandsregeln in der Pandemie -Zeit.

Setting und Konzept für das Experiment waren einfach: Eine Stunde Zeit in einem Raum um eine Minute One-Shot-Tanz- und Kamera-Choreografie zu entwickeln. Aus dem Dialog mit der Linse sind 15 Bewegungssoli enstanden. Der Sound ist kein Kommentar sondern wesentlicher Bestandteil der Bewegung … also laut drehen!

Walzen basiert ebenfallsauf improvisierten Dialogen mit der Kamera, jedoch in Zweierkonstellationen, die mehrfach im Raum eine improvisierte Gesamtchoreographie ergeben.
EVERYBODY´S KREISTANZ (2021)
Die Grundidee von »Everybody´s Kreistanz« (2021) war eine Gruppenchoreografie im Freien, eine Richtung, ein Rhythmus, ein Grundschritt. Abstand, Einheit und die Leere dazwischen wurden unter Corona-Abstandbestimmungen verhandelt. Auch dieser Film ist, wie schon die vorangegangenen, eine Kollaboration mit dem Soundkünstler Nikolaus Woernle.
