The exhibition focused on how artists from the Renaissance, Baroque, and Romantic periods perceived their social environments, and how contemporary artists interpret these depictions in the context of the present day. At the invitation of Meskerem Assegued, three filmmakers (Abel Tilahun, Gunter Deller, and Barbara Lubich) selected artworks from the SKD collection that inspired them and engaged with them creatively.
The works were presented as installations: projections of various sizes, monitors, and specially created spaces interacted with sound and illuminated text, creating a dynamic interplay where the works mutually influenced one another’s impact. The exhibition area was thus atmospherically harmonized to form a cohesive whole.
Participation with 8 works in the video art exhibition curated by Meskerem Assegued (Ethiopia) – Dresden State Art Collections (SKD), Albertinum, Galerie Neue Meister (October 16, 2014 – January 4, 2015).
Der Fokus der Ausstellung lag darauf, wie Künstler der Renaissance, des Barock und der Romantik ihr gesellschaftliches Umfeld wahrnahmen und wie Künstler der Gegenwart diese Darstellung im Bezug zur heutigen Zeit interpretieren. Auf Einladung von Meskerem Assegued bestimmten drei Filmemacher (Abel Tilahun, Gunter Deller und Barbara Lubich) die für sie inspirierenden Kunstwerke der SKD und setzten sich damit auseinander.
Die Arbeiten hatten installativen Charakter.: Projektionen verschiedener Größen, Monitore, oder extra dafür geschaffene Räume wirkten in Kombination mit Sound und Leuchtschrift, so dass sich die Arbeiten in ihrer Wirkung gegenseitig bedingten. Der Bereich ihrer Arbeiten war somit als Gesamtschau athmosphärisch abgestimmt.
