The ARTIST SUMMIT was dedicated to the unexplored potential of the Dance Platform 2018. The artists’ group HOOD, at that time a fellowship holder at PACT Zollverein, invited 30 dance practitioners to take part in a nine-day critical exchange at Zollverein. The emphasis of the summit was put on exchange between the participating artists in concern of significant issues in dance in Germany and internationally.

The project proposed a forum to explore and challenge practices in the performing arts and potentially embed them in new contexts. Questioning the roles of aesthetics as well as practical working conditions, the incentive seeked to foster self-organization among the individuals present, enabling unexpected outcomes and enacted thoughts that complement, expand and diversify the programme of the Dance Platform 2018.

Der ARTIST SUMMIT widmete sich dem unerschlossenen Potenzial der Tanzplattform 2018. Die Künstlergruppe HOOD – seinerzeit Stipendiatin bei PACT Zollverein – lud 30 Tanzschaffende zu einem neuntägigen, kritischen Austausch auf Zollverein ein. Im Mittelpunkt des Treffens stand der Austausch der beteiligten Künstler über wesentliche Fragen des Tanzes auf nationaler und internationaler Ebene. Das Projekt bot ein Forum, um Praktiken der darstellenden Künste zu erforschen, zu hinterfragen und gegebenenfalls in neue Kontexte zu überführen. Indem sowohl ästhetische Aspekte als auch praktische Arbeitsbedingungen zur Diskussion gestellt wurden, zielte die Initiative darauf ab, die Selbstorganisation der Teilnehmenden zu fördern. Dies ermöglichte unerwartete Ergebnisse und gelebte Denkansätze, die das Programm der Tanzplattform 2018 ergänzten, erweiterten und bereicherten.
